産地型サーキュラーエコノミープロジェクト「REKROW」のプロジェクトアドバイザーに、食べるスープのスープ専門店「Soup Stock Tokyo」、セレクトリサイクルショップ「PASS THE BATON」など数々のブランドや事業を生み出し、手掛けてきた株式会社スマイルズ 代表取締役社長 遠山正道氏が就任いたしました。
今回のアドバイザー就任により、既成概念や業界の枠にとらわれない発想で、ビジネスにおいて多大な功績を残す遠山氏のアドバイスのもと、商品開発、販売、ワークウエア製作からアップサイクルするまでの新たな循環を作り出す仕組みづくりなど、産地型サーキュレーターエコノミープロジェクトの持続可能な設計を図ります。
また、REKROWではプロジェクトの活動や繊維産地の取り組みをお伝えし、未来に視点をおいたトークイベント「REKROW TALKS」を開始いたします。第一回のゲストには、遠山正道氏と広島県福山市で1893年に創業し、日本はもとより海外からもその実績を高く評価される「カイハラデニム」のカイハラ株式会社代表取締役会長 貝原良治氏をお招きします。

Local Innovation announces the appointment of Masamichi Toyama, as advisor to their newly launched project, REKROW.
ONOMICHI, Hiroshima, March 25, 2021 — General Incorporated Foundation, Local Innovation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Masamichi Toyama to the role of Advisor of REKROW, a newly launched project of textile manufacturing focused on sustainability and circularity, based in Hiroshima, Japan. Masamichi Toyama, the president of Smiles, is known as the mastermind behind many award-winning projects in various industries including a restaurant chain, “Soup Stock Tokyo” and a recycle shop, “PASS THE BATON.” With Toyama on board, Local Innovation intends to make REKROW a strong platform to develop and market ultimately sustainable and circular business with local textile manufacturers. On April 29, 2021, Toyama will join the first edition of “REKROW TALKS,” a new series of discussion events to introduce REKROW and other textile industry projects in the area. Also present will be Yoshiharu Kaihara, the president of Kaihara Denim, a leading denim manufacturer based in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, since 1893.

About Masamichi Toyama: Born in 1962 in Tokyo. After graduating from Keio University, Toyama worked for Mitsubishi Corporation and founded Smiles Co., Ltd. Focused on creatively expanding the optimistic lifestyle, he founded a variety of businesses and products including: Soup Stock Tokyo, neck-tie shop giraffe, recycle shop PASS THE BATON, restaurant chain 100 Spoons, food & liquor shop PAVILLION, and a speciality shop for nori (Japanese seaweed) Hakejoyu, Noriben Yamanobori. He is the author of several books including “I Determined to Success” and “Business Models to Make What You Want Happen — Chronicle of PASS THE BATON.”
About REKROW Launched in November 2020, REKROW seeks to establish a fully local “circular economy” system for textiles. Based in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, the region known for cotton textile well-production for over a century, REKROW developed the ultimate in upcycled textiles with local partners. Our textiles were originally produced, consumed, then recycled entirely within our local area. We now bring these unique textiles to our collaborators all over the world. Our aim is to bring “sustainability” forward into the textile industry in the next exciting stage ahead.
